On the Lord's Day of July 19, 1964, Pastor George Haney was not in his usual place of bringing the Word of God to the members of Pilgrim OPC in Bangor, Maine. Mr. Haney had become ill and was ordered to rest by his physician, Dr. Harold Cross, a member of Pilgrim Church. Filling the pulpit on this Lord's Day and the one that followed on July 26 were Mr. Paul MacDonald, a ruling elder of Pilgrim Church, and Maine-vacationing OPC ministers Charles Ellis, Robley Johnston and LeRoy Oliver.
