On October 26, 1978, a record 82 ladies attended the annual meeting of the Presbyterial Auxiliary of the Presbytery of Philadelphia held at Bethany Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Oxford, PA. Mrs. Ada Galbraith, the president of the Presbyterial, opened the meeting in prayer. Other officers present included Mrs. Connie Birch (vice-president), Mrs. Eleanor Meeker (recording secretary), Mrs. Margaret Porter (corresponding secretary), Mrs. Margaret Gregson (treasurer) and Mrs. Jean Gaffin (assistant secretary-treasurer).
For the morning session, the Rev. John Galbraith, general secretary of the Committee on Foreign Missions, spoke on the topic "Missions Yesterday and Today," based on Psalm 72:6-11. Mrs. Kitty Shepard and Mrs. Joann Blackburn also sang a duet. In the afternoon session, the Rev. Lendall Smith, OPC missionary to Taiwan, addressed the Presbyterial about the work there. Mrs. Violette Hayes sang a solo. An offering was then taken for the air-conditioning fund for the foreign missionaries.
