OPC visits MARS

On this date in 1998, the Rev. G. I. Williamson, on behalf of the Subcommittee on Ministerial Training, led a visitation team to Mid-America Reformed Seminary in Dyer, Indiana. The visit marked the start of a program instituted by the subcommittee to glean information about seminaries whose graduates were regularly entering pastoral ministry in the OPC. Accompanying Mr. Williamson as members of the team were the Rev. Bruce Hollister, pastor of New Covenant Community OPC in New Lenox, IL, and the Rev. William Bomer, pastor of Covenant OPC in Cedar Falls, IA. The Rev. Douglas Clawson and the Rev. David King joined as observers. The visitation team met with several seminary faculty members, including professors Cornel Venema, Mark Vanderhart, Nelson Kloosterman, and Mark Beach. Mr. Williamson also delivered the Word of God as a guest speaker at the morning chapel service.
